Piddle, Poodles and Pals
We took Hershey to the dog park again on Sunday - it was quite the adventure - it always is!
First off, there were no kids, which means Hershey got to play off leash for a while (we don't trust children to know not to pet dogs they aren't familiar with - in fact we've seen kids running towards dogs to hug them and dogs freaking out - we don't want ANY part of that). Hersh got to run around, play with the kong on a rope, and found a few friends to play with. She loves smaller dogs - so she got to play with a lovely border collie X pit bull. They were having a great time together.
There are always a few dogs who are "grumpy" and bark or snap when other dogs come to smell them. Hersh encountered a few of those last time. She was also moody herself when we were walking her on leash. One dog who made ME grumpy was one who peed on my foot! I was standing there enjoying being outside when a boxer-type dog came to sniff me, or so I thought. Chris told me to watch out, but I looked at my foot that was closest to the dog and it was dry - little did I know that it was my far foot who was getting it! Sigh.
Luckily, on our last visit, there were no horny poodles. They are the worst of the dogs - especially the standard black ones. Hershey hasn't had to escape their advances yet - but there's plenty of other dogs who haven't been as lucky. No procreation-type attempts, just playing/can't control themselves attempts. Gross!
Nevertheless, it is a great outing for Hershey - we get fresh air and a nice walk out of it too. We've gotten to know some of the dogs and their dog parents too - it's nice to chat with others about their trials and tribulations.
