Dawgie

It's been a rough day - my coworker just gave up her dog to be rescued, and followed my advice to go with Misty Creek.

This dog has had a very unstable life. First, he was owned by two students who didn't know how to care for him. They fed him plain white rice and didn't understand that dogs need to have a measured diet. Then, when the had to go back home for a little while, they left the dog with my coworker. They never came back.

My coworker not only didn't plan to have a dog permanently in the first place, she also didn't know how to care for it. She's very busy with work, school and volunteering, and she's a really wonderful human being, but didn't have the skills or the time to really take care of a dog. At first she continued the rice & overfeeding routine, until Chris told her that wasn't good for him. She's learned a lot and has been doing good things for the dog, but she still was under the ipression that doing things like giving him a pork chop "because it was the weekend" was okay. Her heart was in the right place, but she still wasn't able to do all the right things for this dog.

She's been having more and more trouble balancing the dog's needs with her capability to spend time with him, and recently, she's been forced to move. It is so sad to hear how hard a time she's had with it, but it is best that it has come to a head and she's made the right choice. It's a sad situation that the dog has had to be given up, but I know that the dog will be in a better suited home soon.
