Spring cleaning

It's been a VERY long time since I posted anything about poor little Hershey!
First off, some good news about Dawgie - he was adopted within a week of being at Misty Creek. That's fantastic & I hope he has a great life with his new family.

As for Hershey, she's been actually really really great in the past few months. First off, she spent a week and a few extra days at the Tanners while Chris & I went to Rome for a conference. She was treated like gold and got a visit from the Easter bunny too!

She was apparently pretty good with the Tanner dogs which is nice to hear.

When we got back, Hershey had to put up with two of my friends - one visited each week - first Carlen, who stayed overnight and even was home alone with Hershey while Chris & I were at school; and then Jessica, who came late at night after a work event. Hershey did great, only barking a little bit. I think she remembered Jess from her last visit here.

We've been good about taking Hershey to the dog park with the Tanners, but the last 2 times we went, she drank some of the scummy melted snow water, and ended up throwing up both times. Yuck!

Last weekend, we all went camping together - Hershey was great in the car, and did quite well on the campground too. There was a large family next door with a golden lab - she really wanted to go play, but she ended up barking at them a lot instead. We adventured with Hershey too - going on lots of walks and playing in the very cold North Saskatchewan River. Hershey even acted as a little rescue dog brining my Crocs from one side of the river to Ariel on the other side, one at a time (clipped to her collar). She was a great little trooper!

Unfortunately all this excitement and activity in the freezing cold river water gave Hershey the chills - and she was shaking terribly when we got back to the camp. I snuggled her up in all the blankets, towels and sleeping bags we had, and got her nice and warmed up. It was so sad to see her with what was maybe hypothermia. She did get over it quickly, and was ready for more fun the following day.

We look forward to going camping with her (& the Tanners) again in the comming summer weeks!
